SUPW
Socially useful productive work is an educational concept that emphasis practical and hands-on learning experience with a focus on contributing to society. It also encourage creativity and holistic development of students. It encourages students to engage in activities that are not only academically enriching but also socially beneficial. This can include community service, environmental initiatives, skill development programmes, and other and endeavours that make a positive impact on the community. The goal is to nurture a sense of social responsibility and empathy among learners while developing practical skills that extend beyond the traditional classroom setting.
As part of B. Ed curriculum, i have to create an SUPW product. For that i created an organiser. We can create a well-organized organiser using the cardboard used to pack cooker. Most of the time we destroy the waste material of cardboard. But the thing is that, we can create a functional organiser by using the waste material. Cut and fold the cardboard into compartments, and decorate using colour paper. Through this method we can create an eco-friendly organiser. The benefit of this product is that it promote sustainability and environmental awareness. Through this we can learn about the impact of waste on the environment and the importance of recycling and upcycling to reduce waste. It nurture creative thinking as students explore innovative ways to transfer discarded items into useful or artistic products. Students develop a sense of resourcefulness by learning to repurpose materials rather than discarding them, contributing to a more sustainable mind set. Creating products from waste materials instills a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Overall, it was a great experience for me.
