Teaching Practice Week 1

Teaching Practice Week - 1

For teaching practice I got the School named Govt High School Karikkakom. First day of my teaching practice is often filled with excitement, anticipation, and some nervousness. The first day is an essential milestone in teaching practice. It may feel challenging, but it’s also a stepping stone towards becoming a confident and capable educator. Our teaching started from 21st August 2024.

On the first day, I have taken 7th period at class 8. As I entered the class the students greeted me. Students are more curious to know about me. I introduced myself briefly, trying to keep it light and relatable. To break the ice, I asked everyone to share their name and place. This small activity eased the atmosphere and helped me learn a bit about each student.

On the first day I introduced the chapter named " From a Railway Carriage". At first, I could feel my heart racing, but as I started interacting, my nerves settled. I realized that my preparation was paying off, and the students seemed welcoming and open to learning. Along with teaching, we student teachers participated at mid-day meal programme.

In the second day, i have reached school at 9.13am. In my period, i have continued the lesson "From a Railway Carriage". This time I have struggled a little bit to manage the class. Because the students were too noisy, and unattentive in the class at beginning. But I tried to manage the class. On that day, I have shown a lot of pictures in glossary, and I noticed that students are more curious to learn through the pictures. I have learn to use interactive whiteboard. At the first time, I was nervous to use it. But when I started to use interative white board in my classroom, I understood that it was more easier and comfortable than the traditional blackboard.

On the third day, I have reached school before 9.10 on that day there was an assembly from 9.15 to 9.45am

On that day, i have to take first period on 8th standard. The students welcomed me with a warm good morning. It was a memorable day for me because the students paid more attention to the class. And they actively collaborated with the group activity i have given. I noticed they enjoyed activities where they could participate actively. When I asked them questions, a few hands shot up eagerly, which make me happy.

On that day the school conducted a model exam for NAS exam. We student trainees got duty on conducting NAS exam. We fulllfilled our first duty with great dedication

Overall, my first day was a blend of learning and adapting. The students’ energy and responses reassured me, and I walked away feeling motivated for the days to come.
